Since late 2021, François Vandermeeren has held a major role within LSE as Project Manager and Lighting Designer, bringing over twenty-five years of expertise in the creation, supervision, and integration of complex lighting and audiovisual systems. His move to LSE marks a decisive step in an already rich career, characterized by high-level collaborations and a rare versatility within the sector.
At LSE, François plays a determining role in the design and execution of international large-scale projects. Notably, he signed off on his first project for the company at the Burj Khalifa for the New Year’s Eve show, a project emblematic of its technical scale and global visibility. He then took over the complete direction of a work presented at the Noor Festival in Riyadh, one of the largest light festivals in the world, mobilizing his artistic, technical, and logistical skills.
He also supervises the implementation of lasers for the Olympic Games opening show on the Eiffel Tower, an operation of extreme precision where coordination, safety, and visual excellence are essential.
His expertise is also sought after for prestigious institutional events, such as the national holidays in Paris or the Kuwait National Day, demonstrating the trust that major international organizations place in his know-how.

A career forged by experience and diverse environments

François Vandermeeren’s career began with an internship at Groupe Son Privé, where he discovered the world of live performance and the precise requirements of technical professions. This first contact allowed him to acquire a solid foundation in both equipment and methodology.

He then moved to ETF, a company that would successively evolve into Procon and then PRG, one of the largest technical service providers in the world. Within these structures, he trained in a wide range of technical situations, worked on varied productions, and developed his skills in programming, operation, and lighting engineering. These years formed a crucial foundation, where he acquired mastery of the most advanced lighting technologies and valuable field experience.

With this background, François decided to become independent, expanding his scope to numerous artistic projects, events, festivals, and technical creations. This period allowed him to refine his artistic sensitivity, understand the expectations of creative teams, and develop an approach centered on listening, precision, and visual emotion.

Béjart Ballet Lausanne: A formative stage

His career took on an international dimension when he joined the Béjart Ballet Lausanne in Switzerland. He was initially hired as Lighting Manager, before being quickly promoted to Assistant Technical Director, and then Technical Director of the prestigious company.
For four years, he participated in the production of major creations and accompanied the troupe on international tours. He supervised multidisciplinary teams, coordinated complex productions on stages worldwide, and consolidated his ability to combine technical rigor, artistic vision, and human management.
This experience, both intense and formative, strengthened his sense of organization, his versatility, and his ability to lead ambitious projects while preserving artistic coherence.

Return to Belgium and professional rebirth

Upon returning to Belgium, François resumed his freelance activity, collaborating with numerous companies, such as Luc Petit Creation, cultural institutions, and producers. He worked on festivals, stage creations, concerts, and light installations, taking on increasingly demanding and diverse projects.
The Covid crisis, as for many performance professionals, profoundly disrupted his activity. Nevertheless, this transition led to a new opportunity: joining LSE, where he can mobilize the full extent of his experience, expertise, and creativity.
